How to Create the Perfect Outdoor Space

Outdoor spaces can extend your home’s overall living space, help you connect with nature and add a beautiful and comfortable outdoor oasis. Now that those warmer days have arrived, we are spending as much time outside as possible. With doing so, we like to treat an outdoor space like an interior room.

Whether you have a deck, patio or porch you can easily create the perfect outdoor space. We feel its best to start with the larger furniture pieces, such as a lounge set or a dining table and chairs. From there, adding accessories such as an indoor outdoor rug, pillows, lighting and outdoor poufs to elevate the space, add comfort and personality. Whatever you choose, you want to ensure the fabrics and accessories are durable and can withstand the conditions outdoors.

We’ve gathered and tagged a few of our favourite outdoor pieces for you!

Let’s Talk Throw Pillows

Throw pillows can be an affordable way to refresh your space and add coziness to any room. They’re also one of our favourite decor items to add! Don’t over complicate or over think when selecting and styling throw pillows. Have fun, don’t be afraid to mix and match colours, patterns and texture. The flexibility is why throw pillows are one of the easiest ways to change up the look of your space.

When choosing and styling your throw pillows we tend to follow a few basic rules:
One - Pillow Size. It’s important to remember that pillows are accents to a piece, not a piece itself. On average, we start with a basic 20”x20” pillow.
Two - Number of Pillows.
Always in odd numbers, like three or five, but when styling a sectional, we suggest five or seven pillows.
Three - Pillow Fill Insert.
If you have purchased a throw pillow with a ployster fill insert, we recommend switching it out for a down insert. It fills out the cover, elevates the pillow and allows you to do the signature pillow chop.

We’ve selected and created three throw pillow combinations for you to get some inspiration from. We’ve also done a save and splurge portion for each combination.
