How to Hygge

Hygge, the Danish concept encompasses a feeling of coziness, contentment, and well-being. This trend is marked by comorting neutral colours and natural materials. By adding hygge decor into your home, it can create an inviting, peaceful, cozy atmosphere that is free of clutter and encourages togetherness and appreciating the little things in life.

Even though hygge is a concept that is commonly associated with winter, it was actually meant to be enjoyed year round. One of the best ways to incorporate hygge into your home is with minimalist home decor. Here are five design tips to help you embrace hygge in your living space.

One. Lighting Candles, lamps, and fireplaces are amongst the most common uses of lighting when hygge decorating. You’ll find with Scandinavian decor candles scattered throughout the space or fairy lights draped across the mantle.

Two. Soft Textiles Decorate with accessories like throw blankets, throw pillows and faux fur area rugs. There is something so comforting about curling up on the couch with a big comfortable blanket draped over you.

Three. Neutral Colours White walls or warm neutrals create a calming space. Hygge decor includes natural elements such as wood, bamboo, and plants.

Four. Removing Clutter Removing what is not necessary and selecting favourite pieces of decor that carry function and style creating that minimalistic feel.

Five. Creating a Cozy Space Set up a comfy space in which you can snuggle up with plenty of layers and enjoy a good book and a cup of coffee.
